Sudoku Knitting

I've been thinking alot about mathematical knitting after listening to Kay Gardner speak at Finely A Knitting Party, about log cabin knitting and reading about Fibonacci Sequence. I got to thinking about seemingly random patterns that are pleasing to the eye, but are in actuality quite planned. Like a Sudoku puzzle. I love these puzzles and wondered to myself if I couldn't just design an afghan or throw using Sudoku as my pattern and ROYGBIV as my colorway with a little black and white thrown in for contrast.

I'm thinking 81 9x9 inch squares. What I haven't been able to decide yet is whether or not to intarsia the number that are given.

Thank you and thank you. We'll have to see if reality is in tune with my imagination on this one.

I came over from January One -- I had to see this idea. And it's totally brilliant! I love it! I can't wait to see it in progress.

Love it! But I wouldn't do ROYGBIV. How about a nice colorway?

kellee - I left you a message on your blog. How on earth did you come across me? I haven't updated in months!

caro - Oh how I want to learn to quilt. My stepmother makes the most beautiful quilts. Please keep me posted if you do it.

cate - You gave me just the laugh I needed today.

laura - My mother and I are going shopping this evening for some pretty yarn. I was going to use up some nasty yarn first, but I just can't wait. You all have motivated me now.

mrsirb - At the time I posted this I was working with some pretty sock yarn that I ended up hating so I thought about using bright vivid colors. I'm going shopping tonight and will post later what I pick up.
